Mike Foley challenges Tom Emmer in Republican primary

“We’ve seen the GOP have amazing strides in becoming the party of the common man, but I see us losing that … losing these hardworking Americans if, if we don’t truly bring the prices down, reduce the debt and do some of these things that our current elected officials say that they are, they are pushing for, but we are not seeing it,” Foley said.

Meet the Republican who is running against Emmer for U.S. House

Foley said he's concerned about the rhetoric used by some politicians, like Emmer, saying it creates division. He told the St. Cloud Times he wants to turn the temperature down and focus on how the office can be used to address issues impacting central Minnesotans.
"By not adopting the extreme rhetoric of the parties, I can have honest conversation with people on both sides of the aisle and really hear them and represent the majority," Foley said.

MN 6th Republican candidate reaching across the aisle at local protest

An Elk River Republican candidate challenging U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer for Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District seat in the upcoming Republican primary was recently spotted reaching across the aisle by speaking with voters at a Feb. 7 Indivisible protest outside Emmer’s office in Otsego.
He said he has also felt frustrated trying to get an opportunity to speak with Emmer.
“I’m an Iraq War veteran and wanted to talk to him about some veteran issues, but he never responded to me. His team initially reached out to me, confirmed I existed and then never talked to me again, despite me following up multiple times,” Foley said. “I believe that protesting is a great part of our nation, and honestly, a civic duty when you’re not heard.”

Emmer sticks with Trump as president escalates attacks on Somali community

Republican Mike Foley of Elk River recently launched a primary challenge against Emmer because he’s felt ignored by the congressman and thinks he’s lost touch with the district as he’s risen in leadership. Emmer not defending the Somali community is a key example of that disconnect, Foley said.

“It feels like, again, his only job is to whip people into shape, to keep them aligned with the policy talking points,” Foley said, adding: ”Even he knew and spoke years ago about the Somali community and immigration to this area. They drive business and economic growth and enrich our culture.”

an elected representative that turns his back on his constituents

Approximately a year ago, a fellow veteran living in our area informed me that sitting Congressman Cory Mills (FL-7) has a Bronze Star for false claims of saving this Veteran's life. I contacted my representative Tom Emmer and asked him if he was aware of the allegations against his colleague and if he could look into it. His team contacted me to confirm some facts, then ghosted me. Even after a year of follow-ups, Tom Emmer still won't speak to me and is afraid to look me in the eyes. It feels like insiders protecting insiders.

This situation is reflective of Emmer becoming less responsive to constituents over the years. He refuses to have in-person town-halls and prioritizes fundraisers and political insiders.

  • Mike: Tom Emmer, you are a hard person to get ahold of.

  • Tom: No, I'm not and you know that.

  • Mike: I have been emailing you for a year about an important Veteran issue...

  • Tom: That’s not true. We are not going to have this conversation here.

  • Mike: No, the question is still there.

  • Tom: By the way, thank you for your service.

  • Mike: Well, the question I had for you was about Veterans and you left me, you ghosted me.

I Left My Job and I'm Taking This Campaign to the Primary Aug 11th.

After months of balancing a demanding engineering manager role with a grassroots campaign, I made the decision to step away from my job so I can focus 100% on earning the trust of voters in MN‑06.

If I’m asking people to believe in this campaign, then I need to show that I’m fully committed and show how hard I’m willing to work for your vote.

This race matters. Our district deserves a real primary — not a rubber stamp — and I’m all‑in to make that happen.

Militarized ICE agents are being deployed without adequate training or accountability.

As an Iraq War Veteran in MN: This should alarm every free American. Militarized ICE agents are being deployed without adequate training or accountability. This is federal overreach.

Immigration enforcement is a basic fundamental part of a healthy nation where we need to protect our sovereignty and our borders, but I don’t agree with the methods being used in recent months. I think sending 3000 agents to Minnesota that has such a low portion of illegal immigrants is a waste of our tax money. Additionally, from my view it appears it was politically motivated and it was reckless with the speed in which the agents were onboarded and deployed. The ICE situation in Minnesota, escalating out of control on our streets was foreseeable and we should all be angry that our leaders couldn’t act like adults and work together.

I would like to see a pause in immigration enforcement for Congress to complete a bipartisan investigation of the tactics, because they appear unconstitutional. Agents have entered homes without Judicial warrants and agents have purposely intimidated peaceful protestors.

To me, the ends never justify the means if the means are unconstitutional.

I Signed the civic pledge for a stronger Minnesota

Why I signed a pledge for civility. This campaign stands with the majority in the middle that are fed up with career politicians fueling division while working families are left behind.
